Heol Y Deri – Case Study

Brief

The client wanted to maximise the space in their existing house, as well as their area outdoors.

They also wanted to make sure they still had an inside-outside feel, large open spaces and plenty of light and storage – along with a modern look and lots of natural lighting.

Another requirement was an open-plan area with patio doors towards the rear of the property so they could enjoy views of the garden.

They also asked for a garden room – a multi-purpose space separate from the main dwelling.

Solution

We looked at the interior design for the ground floor, living room, kitchen and dining area.

We created a large open-plan kitchen and dining area with picture windows to admire the views from. We also added skylight windows to the living area and designed a music studio interior that faced the garden and back of the house.

Results

The final design took into account all the clients’ wants and needs, giving them a large extension on the rear, but not so large that it took up all of their garden space. It also made sure large amounts of light could come through and respected the neighbours’ privacy by staying away from their boundary.

We included a garden room to provide a multi-use space. The design ensured that the clients are able to live there long-term, and gave them the social spaces that they needed.
